File a pre-discharge claim while overseas

What you need to know to complete the pre-discharge claim process

To complete a pre-discharge claim, you must be available for a VA medical exam for 45 days from the date you apply. You’ll need to have enough time to finish your medical exam in the country where you’re located, which may involve visits to several specialty clinics.

You’ll need to submit these documents with your claim application:

• A copy of your service treatment records for your most recent service period, and
• A completed Separation Health Assessment - Part A Self-Assessment form

How to file if you’re in Europe, Africa, or the Middle East

Contact the Landstuhl BDD office in Germany in one of these ways:

• Schedule an appointment through VERA (the Visitor Engagement Reporting Application), or

The Germany BDD office is in building 3724 at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. We’re open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Central European Time.

How to file if you’re in a country in the Pacific Theater

Contact the Camp Humphreys office in Korea in one of these ways:

The Korea BDD office is in Maude Hall (One-Stop Building). This is building 6400. The office is in room V301, just before the SFL-TAP office. We’re open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Korea Standard Time.
